All the fun of the beach in the heart of Paris
Categories : Paris, published on : 7/1/23
During the school holidays from July 8th to September 3rd, Paris is transformed into a virtual seaside resort. Year after year, the Paris Plages celebration of beach culture continues to expand and offer new entertainment and new activities. During your stay at the Hôtel des Mines, discover the unique atmosphere of this event which gives Paris an air of carefree summer fun…
Your deckchair on the banks of the Seine
Paris Plages is available at two main sites. First let’s head to the quays on the Right Bank of the Seine, between the Pont de Sully and the Pont des Arts. The route along the bank, pedestrianised for several years now, is transformed for the summer with deckchairs, palm trees, and parasols, and offers sandy areas, giant games, table football and workshops for children. Comfortably ensconced opposite the Île de la Cité, you can borrow a book from one of the Bibliothèques Hors les Murs pop-up libraries, leave the children to their games, and savour the seaside holiday ambiance!
All in the water!
For swimming and water sports, go to La Villette. The large pool area accommodates canoes, pedal boats, paddle boats and Hawaiian canoes, while smaller ones are reserved for swimming. The youngest also have paddling pools, so they’ll be happy and safe. The location is ideal, and you can visit the nearby Cité des Sciences science museum or the Ramses II exhibition at the Grande Halle. Finally, as a taster for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, introductions to various Olympic disciplines are on offer in the Jardins du Trocadéro.
A stay at the Hôtel des Mines presents the perfect opportunity to discover all the charms of Paris during the summer. Exhibitions, terraces, gardens, festivals and especially Paris Plages are just some of the activities and attractions open to you.
