The Maison de Gainsbourg
Amidst the elegant streets of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, there’s no doubt that Serge Gainsbourg's house stands out, due to its walls covered in fan graffiti. Within these tagged ramparts awaits the refuge of the singer-songwriter, actor, composer, and director. This is where he enjoyed family life with Jane Birkin, Kate and their daughter Charlotte, and where he composed so many memorable songs. Preserved intact since his death, the house allows us to better understand his personality while taking us back to the 70s and 80s. A little further down the Rue de Verneuil is a museum, bookstore and bar entirely dedicated to Gainsbourg, inviting you to extend your knowledge of his life and work even further.
