Spending July 14th, Bastille Day, in Paris means plunging into the heart of the event's history! It also means joining in with the great moments of popular fervour and jubilation that fill this very special day. By staying at the Hotel des Mines, in the heart of the Latin Quarter, you can experience a wonderful festive occasion!
The party before the party
July 14th begins… on the 13th! That’s when the firefighters’ barracks of Paris open their doors to celebrate the event with their unmissable firefighters' ball. The generations and musical styles mingle to dance the night away in a friendly and inclusive atmosphere. Less than 20 minutes on foot from the Hôtel des Mines, you can reach the barracks on the Rue Vieux Colombier or go a little further to the very beautiful Hôtel de la Monnaie, where the Quai Conti barracks holds its ball!
Entertainment all day
After a short rest, head to the Champs-Élysées on the morning of July 14th for the great Bastille Day military parade. The armed forces in ceremonial uniform march along the avenue from the Arc de Triomphe and salute the presidential tribune on the Place de la Concorde. For the evening, several choices are available to you. You can attend the great symphony concert at the foot of the Eiffel Tower before the start of the magnificent fireworks display or go to the Paris Longchamp racecourse for a Garden Party with many attractions. Or you could board a river boat for a festive dinner cruise and watch the fireworks spectacular from the Seine...
While staying at the Hotel des Mines you can easily take part in all the Bastille Day festivities in Paris. Also take advantage of this long weekend to enjoy the tranquil pleasures of a summer afternoon in the Jardin du Luxembourg, the liveliness of the terraces of restaurants and cafés, and all the current exhibitions.
